honey bee

Summer is upon us in full swing, which means people will be sweating away to fit into the new styles of designer jeans like Citizens and True Religions. Summer also means bug season. Typically, the LA air is not humid enough for biting bugs like the mosquito. However, its floral and vegetation call for bees. Especially in Nor. Cal where all the good summer food gets pollinated by honey bees in the spring so when summer stolls around there are great refreshing fruits ready to be enjoyed.

But, have you noticed? There aren’t as many bees as there used to be. No buzz here, or there. Where have they gone? I noticed, the peculiar silence of the bees back in 2007. When in March, I thought I would be seeing more bees in my neighborhood only to come to realize by May, there were no bees and the prices if almonds at Trader Joe’s went up a dollar!

At first, I didn’t really pay attention to it. Thinking, it might’ve been a bad crop or season this year. Then yesterday as I was diving into my Hagen Daz ice cream ( Strawberry) I noticed the little sign on the pint that said ” help s save the honey bees”

That’s when I knew something was going down. I did a little research and found his informational vlog that can explain things and put things in perspective better then I can.
